Supermoon Lunar Eclipse Will Be The First In More Than 30 Years
Called a super moon lunar eclipse, the astronomical phenomenon will have the total lunar eclipse and a super moon or blood moon happening at the same time.

The autumnal equinox occurring on Wednesday at 4:21 a.m., EDT. Because the moon is near its closest point – perigee – to the earth (31,000 miles closer than when the moon is most distant), it will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter, hence the term “Supermoon”.
During this celestial event the Earth passes between the moon and Sun, and the moon’s surface will appear reddish for more than an hour under the core of Earth’s shadow.
It’s also no cause for concern, despite the ancient Incans and Mesopotamians believing the moon to be under attack during a lunar eclipse. Since 1982, it will be the first supermoon eclipse.
Noah Petro is a deputy project scientist for NASA’s Lunar NASA Comments on Supermoon Event Happening on September 28th And Reminds that It Is Not A Bad Omen Orbiter.
NASA, of course, says nobody should worry as these kinds of things get predicted all the time and nothing unsafe or risky ever happens. “That’s rare because it’s something an entire generation may not have seen”, said Petro. “The only thing that will happen on Earth during an eclipse is that people will wake up the next morning with neck pain because they spent the night looking up”, he said.
The Earth’s shadow will start to diminish the “supermoon” at 8:11 p.m. EDT on September 27, which will likewise be a harvest moon, as per NASA. The total eclipse will begin at around 10:11 pm and could last for more than an hour, they added.

The total eclipse will last one hour and 12 minutes, and will be visible to North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific.
