Mass Effect writer returns to BioWare after three year break
“A few years ago I left BioWare to focus on my Chaos Born novels, but now that the trilogy is finished, I’ve decided to come back into the fold”.

Karpyshyn announced the career move on his blog. The short answer: no. I originally came to the Austin studio many years ago to work on SWTOR and – at least for now – that’s what I’m focusing on again.
It seems. he is ready for more though, as the writer has returned to Bioware. With story such a key component of the expansion, it’s good that BioWare has veterans like Karpyshyn on staff. Mass Effect: Andromeda’s writing team, meanwhile, is being headed up by newcomer Chris Schlerf. We can chalk up the controversial and relatively bland ending to Mass Effect 3 to a lack of Karpyshyn on the game’s writing staff. Having Karpyshyn working on The Old Republic is cool, but a bit underwhelming consider the MMORPG has declined in popularity. Known as Mass Effect Andromeda, the title promises to shake things up by letting fans take control of a brand new lead character in a setting that’s rumored to be far and away from Commander Shepard. I also hope this means more Mass Effect novels, because his were fantastic. He also wrote two Old Republic novels and three others starring Darth Bane, a Sith Lord that lived a 1,000 years before the Star Wars films.
Drew Karpyshyn really was one of the most important parts of bringing Mass Effect to life. Maybe once the first game is out-of-the-way, Karpyshyn will return to the series.

While no release date has been set, Mass Effect: Andromeda, the series’ fourth installment, is expected to launch sometime in late 2016.
