Ryan Adams Shares ‘Bad Blood’ From Taylor Swift Covers Album

Swift’s original 1989 album – named after the year of her birth – reached the #1 spot in United States and the United Kingdom , and has sold 8.6 million copies worldwide, thrusting the former country singer high up into the pop star hierarchy. Adams says his reimagining of 1989 will also come to CD and vinyl “soon”.

You can get an instant download of “Bad Blood” by pre-ordering the album on Apple Music before 9 p.m. tonight PDT.

His tender, heartbreaking version of T-Swizzle’s probable (definite) Katy Perry diss track premiered on the Beats 1 Radio show with Zane Lowe overnight, near-unrecognisable with a mid-tempo makeover and a smattering of lush strings. However, other tracks – for instance Style – are more upbeat.

Adams last posted an update about the album in August and promised a final mix and master would be finished before the end of the month.

Swift has already tweeted her excitement about the release date, posting an image of a countdown clock next to the album’s cover art. “This is surreal and dreamlike”, she wrote.

Adams has already shared plenty of video snippets from the recording sessions via his Instagram page.
