PM Modi launches IPDS to ensure 24-hour power supply to every household

He said that Russian Federation always extended unequivocal support to India for seat in UN Security Council with veto power but now its support is nuanced and the prime minister must explain, why and how this happened. He asked why no educated person questioned the politicians about the exclusion of the poor from banking services, though many banks had been nationalised.

“I am surprised that those who did not open a single account in the banks are showing their concern that the accounts are not being operated properly”.

“At Varanasi, PM again failed to acknowledge the 24 crore no frill bank accounts opened under UPA. It is a tradition in our country to chant about the poor, morning and evening, regardless of what we ultimately do in politics”, he said.

The Prime Minister remarked that the city of Varanasi, which had for long, given the light of knowledge (Gyaan Prakash) to India was now symbolically giving the light of energy (Urja Prakash) to India, as IPDS was being launched nationwide today from Varanasi.

Modi then reached the Cantonment area to address the function in which he distributed 101 e-rickshaw, 501 bicycle rickshaw, packages under Jan Dhan Yojana, solar lanterns to rickshaw, pushcart and street vendors. In elections also, we have been hearing about poverty alleviation programmes for poor.

The much-awaited visit comes almost nine months after his previous trip on December 25 a year ago . He shared their dreams with the gathering, which ranged from a better education for their children, to a boost in income that would result from enhanced sales with the aid of a push-cart.

Addressing a public meeting here after inaugurating a number of projects relating to power, road and health sectors, Modi said that the entire world was looking at India with “pride and hope” which presented the country with tremendous opportunity. “We and our other friends were together till class 12 but went our different ways after that.”READ ALSO: Twitter abuzz with birthday wishes for PM Narendra Modi Naik came to Ahmedabad to do a course in an ITI”.

Modi thanked the people of Varanasi and said he was indebted to them as it was because of them that he became a parliamentarian and then the prime minister. After the cancellation of Modi’s earlier two visits to Kashi – on June 28 and July 16 – due to torrential downpour, speculations were rife that Modi’s third visit could be jinxed.
