“Cling to it, as long as you can, like death”, Stewart deadpanned.
When asked in the press room if he would consider returning to “The Daily Show” if Trump wins for prez, Stewart – who’s known for his hysterical election coverage – joked: “No, I would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet because clearly this planet’s gone bonkers”.
Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesJon Stewart just ended his final season on “The Daily Show” on August 6th, but sounds like he already misses it. “This is the first applause I’ve gotten in weeks”, he said, adding, “There are tables of food out there but you can’t take it. You have to pay”. “Like in Titanic.” Calling the regular world a “barren wasteland”, Stewart described the tongue-in-cheek existential hell of his new, crafts service-free existence.
“Thank you so much”. In addition to the overall award, the show claimed the Emmy for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series.

HBO dominated the Emmys with 43 awards, followed by NBC with 12, Comedy Central and FX Networks with eight awards each, ABC with six and Amazon with five. Congratulations to Jon Stewart and the entire Daily Show team. Trevor Noah will precede Jon, and Noah’s first show will air September 28. “I’m not even sure yet”. Jon Stewart is taking a break from entertainment, focusing his efforts more on lobbying Congress on the behalf of 9/11 responders, which is both a noble effort and something that will keep him away from television for a while. We do think you should pick up a hobby, though. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
