Emmys 2015 winners include Viola Davis, Jon Hamm
With gay and transgender themes enjoying a boom in Hollywood, “Transparent” could topple ABC’s “Modern Family“, which has won the comedy series Emmy for each of the past five years.

Davis continued saying: “The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity”. And Jon Hamm broke his 0 for 16 Emmy streak for the last season of “Mad Men“.
Instead, the 18,000 voters of the Television Academy threw their support behind the HBO medieval fantasy series “Game of Thrones”, which was the night’s biggest victor with 12 Emmys.

“A few hours from now, the greatest crew on the planet’s going to get to work in Belfast, Northern Ireland and in Spain”, Thrones co-showrunner David Benioff told the audience at the end of the FOX telecast of the Emmys.

Political comedy Veep was the victor in the best comedy series category.
Sunday’s ceremony brought surprise best series wins for both “Game of Thrones” – one of the most popular dramas on USA television – and HBO’s satirical White House show “Veep“. Julia Louis-Dreyfus picked up her fourth acting Emmy in a a row, and Tony Hale his second Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy.

Supporting Actress, Comedy Series; Allison Janney, “Mom“, CBS. In Amazon’s “Transparent” he plays the transgender character Maura. Amy Schumer added to the pile by taking home the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, which gave the network eight total wins. Lisa Cholodenko won the Emmy for outstanding directing for a limited series, while Jane Anderson won for writing for a limited series. Regina King from American Crime won outstanding supporting actress in a miniseries or a movie.
