“Initially it made me start kind of giggling in an innocent way, and then I was like, “Oh my goodness, she really, really is upset”, and I didn’t want to do that to her!”

After her performance, a tearful Cheryl said: “It’s ridiculous how much the words resonate with me and I understand you’ve been through some hard times”.

“That could be the best backstory we’ve ever had on The X Factor“, he added. Josh Daniel’s audition remains for many one of the biggest moments of the entire run so far, in particular with the way that he elicited such a strong reaction out of Simon Cowell without really having it as an intention to do.

The 40-year-old mother-of-one gave her everything when she performed to a spellbound audience and appearing on Good Morning Britain this morning, she told Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh that she nearly gave up singing for good after her husband became paralysed from a devastating vehicle crash. Sherilyn only took up singing again in 2012 after discovering that she had a heart defect. “I don’t see where this fits in today’s market”, said Simon.

She explained: “It was at that point my life changed completely and forever”.

The singer only auditioned for The X Factor after a pal entered her in the competition without her knowing. “What I like about you is the fact that you’re a bit effed off”, Simon said.

“I thought it was a mess”.

The six-piece, who described themselves as a mixture of One Direction and Boyz II Men, were put together by duo Debbie and Paul, but they failed to impress the judging panel with their rendition of Chris Brown’s She Ain’t You.

Watching from the sidelines Olly joins in, telling co-host Caroline Flack: “This guy sings it better than me!”

Andy Taylor, a 34-year-old ice cream man from Wakefield, attempted to sweeten the judges by giving them ice cream. After treating the judges to some of his trademark 99s, he serves up more than just a tasty treat when his version of Shut Up and Dance by Walk The Moon turns out to be equally impressive.
