Broncos Defense wins it again as Manning shows us Manning

Bradley Roby returned a fumble, with 35 seconds remaining to lift the Broncos to victory, 31-24, in Kansas City.

“It’s one of the hardest feelings right now that I’ve felt in a long time”, Charles said.

Once Manning received the game ball, his teammates demanded a speech and Manning delivered with something you don’t usually here from the Broncos quarterback: an F-bomb.

The Kansas City Chiefs were in the driver’s seat of the game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football and looked headed to a win. The way they destroyed Kansas City Chiefs proved beyond doubt that things are not completely lost for them.

Alex Smith threw for 191 yards for Kansas City, but also had two passes picked off.

Jamaal Charles finished with 125 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, but he had two crucial fumbles. Head coach Andy Reid called it a “basketball ankle sprain”. It was Charles’ second fumble and the Chiefs’ fifth turnover of the game.

But with a depleted Broncos roster, a strong K.C. offseason and questions swirling about Manning’s longevity, 2015 has been deemed the Chiefs’ best opportunity to steal the division from Denver.

Manning improved as the Broncos played a more familiar style starting late in the first half. Thanks to Peyton Manning returning to his old ways, he has silenced the critics, at least for one week.

It appears that Kubiak allowed Manning to run a hybrid between his offense and Manning’s shotgun “hurry-up” offense.

There has been much talk about Gary Kubiak’s “system” and how it works with Peyton Manning’s “system”, but few are talking about what Kubiak is actually saying about what he is trying to do with this football team in 2015. If he goes out and throws one touchdown pass, guys think that he’s supposed to throw six touchdown passes and that’s the level he’s set himself at. With 36 seconds left, Manning hit Sanders for 19 yards and his third touchdown strike of the day to tie the game at 24.

As the time on the clock waned in the first half, the Broncos offense would finally click. But washed up? The Broncos have defeated two teams considered serious contenders for the AFC Championship in their first two games of the season.

ILB Derrick Johnson was just seven tackles away from taking over the franchise record for most career tackles going into Thursday night’s game against Denver.

Denver had one shot, and Manning made the most of it. The 11-play, two-minute long drive tied the game up for Denver, and with a little over 30 seconds to play, the game looked to be going into overtime.
