While it’s unclear exactly will fit into the puzzle long-term, you can expect her to pop up a lot more over the course of the season and she’s getting mixed up with everyone.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for “Castle” season 8 premiere entitled “XY”, also hinted that a missing Beckett will greet viewers.

Fans remember when Castle went missing in Season 7. In this episode told from Castle’s lens, Beckett is officially installed as the captain of the 12th precinct. By episode’s end, Kate’s life will be on the line as she hurries to piece the puzzle behind the mysterious plot before the culprit can finish the job. “For us it’s really about the characters [and] trying to craft some fun new, fresh dynamics between our characters”. Castle’s daughter Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) was excelling in college, Beckett’s colleagues Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) were riding high on their latest win and Castle’s actress mom Martha (Susan Sullivan) was a hit on Broadway. He also finds himself a partner that he wasn’t looking for, but should consider keeping because Alexis Castle is no longer a child and she’s picked up a thing or two on how to solve these cases.

“The fun thing is that I get to work with pretty much anyone. On another note, I was a little unsure about the addition of Hayley at first, but her dynamic with Alexis brings out a softer side that I’m excited for the show to explore this season”. The series airs new episodes Mondays on ABC. The first episode sets the story in motion where Beckett is a little bit of a ghost and you don’t know exactly what’s going on. So the exciting thing about the show is that you can tell all kinds of different stories. “What we’ve shot with [Alexis and Hayley] together is magic, it really is”.

Winter: We fill in those blanks. “Again, it’s adding a little bit of extra conflict”. What can you say about how the second part is going to unfold? “Castle” fans can just coast knowing that the producers might already see the writing on the wall and there is no reason to try to save the show. “So, if this is the last season, our plan is to have a very compelling ending just like there was a compelling ending last season when there was a thought that it might have been the finale as well”.

The real question for the new season, in Winter’s words, was: “How can we tell stories, fun stories, that are still steeped in the DNA of the show and steeped in their love story?”
