Wolves hand former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi a trial
“He’s down for a few days with us”.

Jackett believes Ameobi, 33, could add crucial depth to the Wolves squad as they looks to improve on their current 18th place in the Championship table.
“We will see how he (Shola Ameobi) does in this particular game (Swansea), whether we can then extend that and see whether he can bring some experience to our frontline”.
He was released by the club in the summer of 2014 and, after originally moving to Turkish side Gaziantep, Ameobi returned to England and made four appearances for former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace.
Wolves, who missed out on the Championship play-offs on goal difference in May, have won just twice in seven games this season and sit 18th.
“With his power and his size, ability to hold the ball up and presence in the 18-yard box, is he someone who can offset the forwards we have and give us some balance”.
It seems that the Newcastle United legend is set to fill that void left by Dicko, and help provide both Benik Afobe and Adam Le Fondre with a different dimension on the attacking front.

And the Black Country club’s busy schedule means ex-Town midfielder Conor Coady will be available for that match despite being sent off during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with leaders Brighton.
