Police cars with their lights flashing stretched for miles as part of the funeral procession.
The suspect ran from the scene.
According to the Lyon County Circuit Clerk, Ambrea Shanks was indicted on Monday for hindering prosecution.
Autopsies were conducted last week for Ponder and 25-year-old Joseph Johnson-Shanks, the man accused of killing him. He was taken to a hospital, where he died shortly before midnight.
A KSP spokesman said Ponder had been arranging for overnight lodging for the suspect’s fellow travelers, including two children, when suddenly, Johnson-Shanks took off.
On Monday, Shanks was was also arraigned in the Lyon County Circuit Court. He has asked State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer for proposals to be included in that bill, and Brewer has said he will do so.
Joe Ponder, of Radcliff, read a brief statement thanking Kentucky’s law enforcement community for the strong support it has given the Ponder family since he son was shot and killed on September 13 after a traffic stop in rural western Kentucky. “He lived a life full of objective and meaning and direction and sacrifice”.
“I’m willing to follow this road as far as it will lead”, he said.
State police said an Internet-based scanning service, not affiliated with KSP, recorded the radio transmission and uploaded the audio file to YouTube in a video format. A representative told police that YouTube reviewed the request carefully but would not remove the video.
