The burned apartment unit belonged to several members of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, the Daily Bruin reported, adding that members of the sorority were called in for an emergency meeting after the death was announced.
Investigators on September 22, 2015, walk into a building where a woman was found dead after a fire near UCLA.
Firefighters responded to a report around 7 a.m. on Monday that there was a fire on the first story of a two-story apartment building located in the 10900 block of Roebling Avenue, according to ABC 7. “UCLA is a close-knit community, and this tragic event affects us all”.
Investigators gathered outside UCLA’s Pi Beta Phi Sorority house in Westwood on September 21, 2015. It was not known if she was a UCLA student. “Our grief counselors will continue to meet with those who have been affected by this tragic loss and I encourage anyone who may wish to speak with a counselor to contact UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)”.

The cause remains under investigation by arson detectives. A Fire Department statement noted that the apartment did not have bars or security screens that would have prevented the victim from escaping the flames. As of 8:45 a.m. this morning, authorities had not taken anyone into custody.
