Jake Livermore set for first Hull appearance since escaping drugs ban

Steve Bruce says that, fitness permitting, Jake Livermore could make his first Hull City appearance of the season in the League Cup tie against Swansea City. Scroll down for Philip Buckingham’s preview.

Swansea have won every home fixture since winning the trophy in 2012-13 but faced elimination in each of their two away matches.

“They are all good enough to play in the 11”.

Jake Livermore is making a dramatic quick-fire comeback for Hull after emerging from his cocaine nightmare.

Garry Monk’s side defeated Tigers 3-1 when the two teams last met in April this year.

“I’m sure there will be some changes but whether it’s the amount I made for York I don’t know”.

With no injury problems, Monk will give opportunities to the supporting cast among his talented squad.

Monk would not reveal who is his starting lineup today.

Tomorrow’s clash should also bring opportunities for another couple of summer signings.

Left-back Tabanou joined the Swans in a £3.5million move from St Etienne during the summer to compete with Neil Taylor.

Livermore, who had been keeping a rigid solo training regime, is eager to play again having returned to the Tigers fold and manager Steve Bruce is considering him for Tuesday night.

Britton, Angel Rangel and Wayne Routledge are among the senior figures who look set to feature, while there may also be game-time for the likes of Kyle Bartley and Jordi Amat. Whether I put Jake in on Tuesday, I’ll make up my mind in the next 24 hours.

He was notified of the failed test on 13 May and has not played for Hull since.

Not since 1977-78 have the Tigers managed to emerge through three rounds of the League Cup unscathed and booking a place in the fourth round would make this the equal of any previous adventure in this competition.

Regardless of cup hopes, Monk would welcome a victory ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Southampton.

Although wholesale changes are forecast after a busy run in the Championship, the deputies will be recalled with points to prove. Shaun Maloney, too, can expect a belated full debut.

Livermore joined Hull for £8million and was looking to regain a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad
