Piscotty gets go-ahead hit, Cardinals beat Reds 2-1

In a game that felt a lot more like an October contest than it had any right to, Monday’s tilt between the Cards and Reds was tight from start to finish, and closed with rookies doing the heavy lifting.

The Cincinnati Reds appeared to be on their way to a win on Monday but they let it get away in the bottom of the eighth inning as they fell to the Cardinals.

Chicago White Sox second baseman Carlos Sanchez is congratulated by teammates after hitting a home run during the sixth innin… The one [Joey] Votto got, that’s where I wanted it too.

Starter Jaime Garcia pitched seven innings, yielding five hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.

Later, when Piscotty had replaced Grichuk in left, Todd Frazier attempted to craftily tag on a soft fly ball and was caught easily . “I’ve seen having a one-run lead and the bases loaded, nobody out, and somehow magically getting out of it when you feel like there’s no way”.

Judging by how John Lamb has stifled the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cincinnati Reds found at least one future rotation member in the Johnny Cueto deal. “He was sharper and didn’t give us a lot to work with”.

In the seventh, Lamb was yanked after Kolten Wong launched a leadoff double off the wall. The uprising began with Pham’s triple off reliever J.J. Hoover (8-2).It was the 33rd RBI in 55 major league games for Piscotty, who was called up July 21 from Triple-A Memphis. He ghosted around third and I swear it took him only five steps to reach home plate. “They’ve helped me do a good job transitioning to this role. I’m still working like everyone here to ideal the craft”, he said.

METS 4, BRAVES 0 Jonathon Niese won for the first time in a month, Michael Conforto hit a home run and host New York moved closer to the National League Eastern Division title. Jh.Peralta singled to right, Pham scored.

St. Louis’ offense was tardy to the series opener against Cincinnati. He said he’ll text Isringhausen, “and let him know I’m happy to be a part of that club”. Bourjos ran for Peralta and scored on Piscotty’s hit to left-center.

The Stanford product has delivered time and again in key moments for the Cardinals in the second half and boasts the team’s best average at.309.

But he was on the hook for a loss until the Cardinals (94-56) notched their MLB-high 12th win after trailing going into the eighth inning.
