Lamb said in the 911 call that he was not going to identify himself, but before he hung up, he told them Prentiss’ name.

Police in the coastal town of Gautier, Mississippi, were investigating the murder of a woman in Lamb’s home when they heard news of the campus shooting.

Although Lamb stated that Prentiss was his wife, it is still not yet clear the exact relation between the two; however, police do know that they were romantically involved and living together.

In the newly released recording, Dr. Shannon Lamb, 45, asks a dispatcher to send officers to his Gautier, Miss., home Monday, saying: “I shot my wife last night”.

The professor at Delta State University suspected of killing his longtime girlfriend and a fellow instructor left an apology note, according to investigators.

Investigators are still trying to determine when the murder of Prentiss took place, but they believe he called them to report it before he left for Delta State.

“It was signed by Shannon Lamb indicating his involvement in her death and his remorse for her actions”, said Hoggatt.

Later that day, Lamb told authorities he was “not going to jail”.

“Governor Bryant is in communication with President LaForge and with Department of Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz”.

But a senior law enforcement source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, has now provided new details of the conversation police had with Lamb before he took his own life.

Lamb and Prentiss had apparently been dating for some time.

“I would have given up if it weren’t for him”, she said.

Bolivar Commercial Cleveland Police Department said at least one person was injured on the Delta State University campus after an active shooter stormed the school.

And it didn’t make things any better knowing she was 3 hours away from her son. Some people hid in a storage closet, King said. He instructed authorities to “take care of her [Prentiss]”. “He always sees the big picture and I think had he been alarmed, it might have alarmed me more”, she said. We were cutting up and throwing one-liners at each other.

Schmidt, the slain professor, directed the first-year seminar program and specialized in Native American and colonial history, said Don Allan Mitchell, an English professor at the school. He was married and had three young children.

A vigil is planned for Schmidt tonight at 7 p.m on Delta State’s campus.
