Comedian Steve Rannazzisi earns his living by telling jokes and fabricating the truth at times, but his most recent lie about being present at The World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks is one that has cost him a commerical deal with Buffalo Wild Wings, and could have also cost him a one hour comedy special with Comedy Central. Buffalo Wild Wings announced on Thursday that it would discontinue its relationship with the comedian, pulling the ad campaign.

According to ABC News, the special, “Steve Rannazzisi: Breaking Dad”, is set to air at 11 p.m. The network said earlier in the day it was making no changes to its schedule, and spokesman Steve Albani said there would be no additional comment.
After the New York Times reported inconsistencies in his story, Rannazzisi’s publicist released a statement saying, “As a young man, I made a mistake that I deeply regret and for which apologies may still not be enough”.
This week, Rannazzisi said on Twitter he was in fact working in another part of the city, and not at the World Trade Center.
The comedian told the story of being in the South Tower, working for Merrill Lynch on the 54th floor, when the first plane hit the North Tower. The incident, as he described it, inspired him to move with his wife to L.A.in order to begin his comedy career. “We are very disappointed to hear about Steve’s misrepresentations and are now determining how we will move forward”.
He said he wished that subsequent silence could erase a story told out of immaturity. Although people with this condition know that they are just lying, they do not know how to make themselves stop.
