A 24-year-old Burbank man has been charged with elder abuse after allegedly punching a fellow Costco shopper in the face over free Nutella waffle samples.

According to CBSLA, Derrick Gharabighi, 24, took several samples of an Eggo waffle with Nutella from the sample cart Sunday morning. Police said the unidentified 78-year-old man was hospitalized with swelling and a one-inch cut. Gharabighi, however, was charged with inflicting great bodily injury and elder abuse, something that’s both terrible and totally not worth a couple of samples. He remains in custody and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. If convicted, he would face a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison.
