Rare Sonic arcade game coming to a PC near you
Waku Waku Sonic Patrol vehicle is a 1991 Japanese arcade game for children, in which they steer a police auto through traffic, obeying the road laws and battling Eggman. Thankfully, the title, which had been thought lost for the better part of two decades, has now been found. If you’re prepared to wait a little longer, then the game will be available on the MAME arcade emulator along a forthcoming software update. Instead, Sonic is a Japanese policeman who drives his squad vehicle around to protect his animal friends from the nefarious Dr. Robotnik/Eggman.

Which Sonic fans might want to anyway; it’s the first game in the franchise to ever feature voice acting.
Of course, you won’t be able to play the game while sitting inside of a tiny plastic vehicle in a grocery store or wherever Sega put these things, but whatever. Will Medved told Kotaku that he got the game from a Waku Waku cabinet that he imported from Japan (for $5,350). That makes the recent acquisition of an original arcade board something truly special, because now it will finally be playable as a ROM along with the next MAME release.
