Asim Bajwa among four others promoted to LT Generals

Gen. Asim Bajwa have been promoted to the rank of Lt. General.

The newly-promoted lieutenant generals, approved by a board headed by Army chief General Raheel Sharif, will be posted to new positions within the next two months.

The ISPR further said that Lt General Asim Saleem Bajwa will continue as the Director General ISPR while Lt General Hilal Hussain has been posted as the Commander Army Strategic Force Command.

The Ministry of Defence and General Headquarters have issued notifications for these appointments.

Under the direction of Bajwa, the army conducted military operations in the South Waziristan tribal area to get rid of militancy and re-establish peace. Prior to that, Bajwa had served as the deputy military secretary under Pervez Musharraf and headed the 111 Brigade.

Lt-Gen Aamir Riaz, who was serving as the Director-General Military Operations (DGMO), has now been posted as the Commander Southern Command.

Four other Lieutenant-General of Pakistan Army will retire in the next few days upon completion of their service.

Durrani is serving as Vice Chief of General Staff and Sadiq is General Officer commanding Bahawalpur.
