In a post on its “heartbeat” websiteused to monitor how Skype products are performingSkype said users are experiencing several technical issues, including problems with logging in, calling, changing status, contact-list management and updating forum pages. Despite Microsoft’s assurances that Skype had been fully restored, some users were still saying that their Skype service was virtually unusable almost a day after the issue was “fixed.” At the end of previous year , Skype said it hadmore than 300 million users world-wide.
Many Skype users in the United Kingdom , Australia and Japan have all reported problems.
The world’s biggest software company has held up its operation of mass-market services such as Skype as evidence of its ability to handle the digital operations of other companies in its global network of data centres, in competition with rivals such as Amazon Web Services.
Sendrauskas added that Skype was “working on a fix for this issue” but did not give details about when the promised update would arrive.
Communications platform Skype suffered a major outage on Monday, with users unable to change their status or start calls. “We apologise for any inconvenience and will keep our users updated”.
It added that the problems had not affected business customers who use Skype for Business, a paid-for version of the service. The announcement was made on Skype’s official website.
With Skype going down, users turned to Twitter to complain over the lack of service.
