Chvrches new album Every Open Eye being streamed by NPR
Chvrches are streaming their superb second album “Every Open Eye” in full, ahead of its 25th September release. Mayberry’s fired up sentiments here aren’t the only mic drop to be found among Every Open Eye’s 11 urgent tracks.

Every Open Eye sounds very much like a sister record to Bones, though it forsakes the debut’s twilit atmosphere in favor of a diamond-lathed sound to match Mayberry’s negotiation of these sharp edges. Chvrches, whose name is a permanent tongue twister (it’s pronounced “churches”, for the record), has been steadily building a fan base since emerging some two years ago.
That much is true of first single “Leave a Trace”, in which Mayberry delivers an unforgettable vocal melody over a raw but reserved electro backing; “Clearest Blue” is similarly minimal, before exploding midway in a climax destined to send festival crowds into raptures. Mayberry & Co. are keen to move on from what’s come before, and the topics of growth and change are often referenced. With that done, it’s onward and upward to better things, and moments of euphoria that eclipse any previous work.
That’s exactly what Chvrches have done on Every Open Eye.

Members Iain Cook, Martin Doherty, and Lauren Mayberry are known for incorporating intense beat drops and unpredictable breaks in their tracks. They started from a chance meeting, but on their second album, Chvrches prove that they’re more than just a side-project-they mean business.
