Buckeyes wear down the Hokies 42-24

“I told our team we’re going to rally”. We put ourselves in position to take the lead in the second half. Those things are all true, and there were moments when Ohio State was flawed on Monday.

Barrett threw three interceptions in the loss, including one that Donovan Riley returned 63 yards for a touchdown with 46 seconds to go, making the Hokies the first nonconference opponent in 65 games to win at Ohio Stadium.

A little over a year ago, Miller had shoulder surgery that forced him to miss all of 2014. That feeling wouldn’t last long however, and the Hokies capitalized on a tipped pass for an interception, as well as a dropped punt by the fill-in returner of Elliott.

The Buckeyes got off to a fast start, but the Hokies battled back.

Sam Rogers, HOKIES JUNIOR FULLBACK, said “Like Coach Loeffler was saying, I love Motley, too and Motley’s gonna do great for us”.

Virginia Tech responded with 17 straight points.

Two first-time starters who did not get much playing time past year , cornerback Gareon Conley (8 tackles) and defensive end Tyquan Lewis (1.5 sacks) were among the statistical leaders.

I thought when the dust had cleared, Meyer would pick J.T. Barrett.

Miller later scored on a 53-yard run off a direct snap, spinning and juking his way through the Hokies’ defense to make it 28-17.

Braxton Miller, who hadn’t played in a game for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 20 months, returned in spectacular fashion as a hybrid-back Monday evening against Virginia Tech, amassing 140 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns to spark the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes to a 42-24 win. And this is just the first game. Tech then took the lead on a 1-yard pass from Brewer to tight end Ryan Malleck with 15 seconds left in the first half. Unfortunately Brewer is out for most of the year with a collarbone injury. We’re going to find a way. Despite the fact that his team ran for zero yards in the first quarter against Akron, Bob Stoops thinks Oklahoma is going to be able to run on Tennessee. Volunteers fans aren’t so sure he’s wrong.

After the departure of Brewer, the Hokies struggled to generate any offense.

You could count on one hand the number of college programs in which Barrett or Miller wouldn’t start at quarterback and probably shoot to the top of the Heisman rankings. On the play Thomas absolutely broke the ankles of highly-renowned corner Kendall Fuller.

Loeffler appeared close to tears when he addressed the media after the game. Miller not only proved that he can be a risky weapon out wide for the Buckeyes in 2015, but he put the rest of the country on notice. The coaching staff can be happy about many aspects of the defense, offense and special teams, but it assuredly will address mishaps committed by each unit that need to be corrected.
