Hizbul militant’s body found in Baramulla

The bullet-ridden body found in the outskirts of village Devbugh in Kunzer area of north Kashmir’s Tangmarg on Saturday morning was later identified as that of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant Fayaz Ahmed Bhat.

Reports said that as the news about the killing of HM militant Fayaz Ahmed Bhat spread in North Kahsmir, scores of people from Pattan and Palhalan area took to streets and organized pro-freedom protests.

According to police officials, the body was shifted to Baramulla for a post-mortem, and then sent to Fayaz’s native village of Wailoo, Tangmarg.

“The body is in army fatigues and has gunshot wounds”, the police said.

Hizb Operational spokesperson said on phone that Bhat along with his associates was on a “mission” when the Indian Army personnel fired upon them.

“The body of the slain militant has been taken into possession by police for completion of necessary formalities before it can be handed over to the family for last rites”, he added.

The police said that the slain terrorists was a commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen and was active for more than six years in the Kashmir valley.

Earlier bullet-riddled bodies of three militants, believed to be belonging to LeI, were found in Dangerpora in Pattan area.

The police after investigation had said that they all were terrorists and killed in intra-group rivalry.
