When the 17-year-old woke up, something was still wrong; Houle’s Apple Watch-which can track the wearer’s heart rate-said his was 145 beats per minute, more than double his average, WCVB reports. The inbuilt detectors proved extremely beneficial for Houle, who claimed that after his practice, he felt chest pains and noticed that his heart-rate was bordering on 145. But a new endorsement for the device is perhaps the most powerful of all: One teen credits his newly purchased Apple Watch with saving his life.
He told the Huffington Post: ‘I thought it was a neat little feature, but didn’t see myself really using it. What I thought was so tiny and not important turned out to be a life-changing decision. “If my Apple Watch hadn’t shown me it was 145, I would have done nothing about it“, he says.
“I was so dehydrated that my muscles started to actually break down and release a protein that is sort of toxic into my blood stream which caused my heart, my liver and my kidneys all to shut down”, Houle told WBZ.
Paul spent several days in the hospital. This convinced him to visit hospital for a checkup where he learned he had heart, liver and kidney failure, which could have been fatal if not reported on time.
Apple can not ignore the fact that following the recent incident, the company’s unplanned campaign for its smart-watch platform will surely help the tech-giant to increase its user-base and revenues.
Houle Jr. isn’t back playing football yet.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO, Tim Cook secured an internship for 17 year-old Paul Houle Jr. from Massachusetts following the latter’s involuntary attempts to exalt Apple Watch’s status in the market.
News of the episode came to Cook, who called Houle specifically to make the occupation and telephone offers.
