Avril Lavigne gives fans an update on her battle against Lyme Disease
After opening up about her Lyme disease diagnosis earlier this year, on Tuesday (Sept. 22), the “Complicated” singer shared her doctor’s appointment on Instagram, saying that she’s on her way to feeling better and living healthy.

In June, Avril had an emotional interview with “Good Morning America”, detailing the struggle of the bacterial infection and saying that, most of the time, she is bed ridden.
“On my way to good health #TakingCareOfMyself #F*ckLymeDisease” Avril captioned one photo. “We were all meant to fly”. And, while atop an examination table in another shot, the singer looks upbeat, healthy and ready for the next challenge (which is hopefully not the tongue depressor, because frankly, she’s dealt with enough already). “It sounds silly, but I really did feel my fans through the process”. Avril was bedridden for five months, and has previously said that she thought she “was dying” because of symptoms including not being able to eat, and not being able to talk or move. “Seeing a lot of progress…” I know I do.
It’s not the only heartbreak Avril has recently had to endure.
“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today”, she wrote in an Instagram post on September 2.

The “Hello Kitty” singer revealed to People Magazine previous year that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease after her birthday trip to Las Vegas, which is “caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks.”, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support”, she added.
