Pope Francis began his morning, on Wednesday, at the White House, visiting with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office.

The bishop will attend several papal events including the pope’s address to congress, but he said the pope’s presence will be felt all over America – not just in the few cities he’ll visit.
Relatively few people will get an intimate audience with the pope during his first visit to the United States, but Bishop Hartmayer said there is still great anticipation. “There is no institution in the country that has as many commitments in terms of helping immigrant families”, Flores said. And I love him because he doesn’t believe in spending lots of money on his attire and things.
He honored the pope’s visit and touted the pontiff’s popularity.
“Being a part of the new world, he asked us to set an example in terms of being a tolerant and gentle people”. “He likes to be around people to know people and to share in their lives”.
Bishop Tamayo says the Pope expressed words of encouragement for the people in the local diocese – and to help those in need, especially migrants.
“As I was waiting in line to meet him, I thought to myself, ‘What do you say to the Holy Father?'” Flores recalled of Wednesday’s encounter. “And he is doing his own thinking”.
Antonio “Tino” Flores says he was abused for five years in the 1970s by a now-deceased Franciscan father associated with Bishop Timon High School. “That it is time for us to look at the world that we have and what a gift it is and how we must take care of it”, said Bishop Boland.
The Diocese of Helena’s Bishop George Leo Thomas is flying out to Washington D.C.to witness the Pope’s arrival.
“I think he’s very welcoming”.

From D.C.to New York to Philadelphia, Thomas is hoping that Pope Francis’ American tour resonates with dioceses throughout the nation, providing guidance for migrants and the impoverished.
