Zlatan Ibrahimovic: ‘I was never anxious about not scoring goals’

Laurent Blanc has insisted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s critics should not be surprised after he returned to form with a goal in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over Guingamp.

Javier Pastore put the hosts ahead with a clinical finish in the 18th minute before Argentinian compatriot Di Maria doubled the lead 14 minutes from full time, the Guardian reported.

“When I knew I would be moving to Paris, I said to my wife that I was sure we would draw Real Madrid”, he said.

Blanc said that everyone was of one mind and he would be the first to tell you for the Champions League you must have the best possible club and the most important players must be available and ready 100% mentally and physically.

The Ligue 1 champions were left frustrated after Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at Reims and the result could have been worse had Edinson Cavani not grabbed an equaliser.

Last season’s 6-0 drubbing in the corresponding fixture prompted Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec to adopt a conservative approach with Jimmy Briand and Sloan Privat, both on target at the weekend in a 2-1 win over Gazelec Ajaccio, left on the bench.

Another chance fell to Ibrahimovic after a clever one-two with Cavani but this time the striker’s deflected effort was palmed away well by Lossl.

Di Maria, who joined from Manchester United this summer, found the net from close range after Lossl failed to clear Ibrahimovic’s powerful shot. He also fed Pastore for the opening goal, when the Argentina midfielder found a way between five Guingamp players to fire into the bottom right corner.

No matter the XI, PSG should always be stronger than minnows like Guingamp.

Blanc rejected suggestions that two draws constitutes a crisis, telling reporters he wasn’t anxious , and that PSG didn’t feel under pressure during their matches.
