Rajnath Singh leaves for India-China border

He was addressing the soldiers after inaugurating the newly constructed Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Camp in Samba sector of Jammu.

He said historically India has never been an “aggressor” and always tried have cordial relations not only in its immediate neighourhood but with whole world- as it believes the whole world is a family – the principle of Vasudev Kuttumbam. He added that until relations improve with Pak and China peace can not be established in Asia.

The home minister also cleared the air on possible deployment of the ITBP on the worldwide border between India and Pakistan in Jammu region in addition to the Border Security Force.

Asked by reporters on dialogue with Pakistan in the backdrop of heavy shelling and firing on Indian civilian population from across the border, Singh said, “I have not spoken about any specific country”.

The field commanders from both sides are also set to discuss the modalities to defuse the tense situation.

India has always taken the lead in this regard.

Rajnath Singh said that the ITBP is guarding 3,488 km long India-China border which is one of the most inhospitable and hard borders.

“I want that Pakistan should make efforts and take the initiative so that Indo-Pak relations improve”, he said.

Singh on Monday, reach Leh and met a local delegation and senior ITBP officials who guards the India-China border in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Home Minister arrived here on Monday morning as part of his three day visit to the State especially the border with China where ITBP jawans are deployed.
