IPhone 6S Delays: Where Pope Visit May Affect Deliveries

The Verge reported that most UPS clients have already received a message, saying that delivery services might be delayed, and in other cases, cease completely, in some ZIP codes in Washington, New York City, and Philadelphia.

UPS, for example, is suspending pickup and delivery services completely in some areas.

Customers planning to get their hands on a new iPhone this week might have to wait longer than expected.

It’s unclear exactly how many iPhone are expected for delivery Friday, though the company previously said it was on pace to beat last year’s 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25.

If Friday’s deliveries are divinely foiled by traffic snarls and security precautions, all hope is not lost, Apple early adopters. Despite the shipment delay, Apple might still be enable to deliver its products before September ends.

In D.C., 11 zip codes are being affected from Tuesday through Thursday: 20001, 20002, 20004, 20005, 20006, 20008, 20016, 20017, 20018, 20036 and 20037. Pope Francis will be making appearances in those areas at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, United Nations headquarters, 9/11 Museum, Central Park, Madison Square Garden and elsewhere next Thursday and Friday.

However, there is a slight chance for the tech-giant to avoid a delay through personal pickups for pre-orders via UPS’s holding facility.
