Aloun Farms: Pumpkin shortage could happen
Admission is not required to visit the pumpkin patch. Such varieties as sugar pumpkins, Baby Bears, Cinderellas, Fairytales, New England pie pumpkins, and Baby Pams have dense, smooth flesh ideal for making pumpkin purée for your favorite dessert recipe.

A treat for kids and adults alike, the festival will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m., at 6200 Enterprise Drive in Diamond Springs.
Sherman Farm has teamed up with the local literacy foundation Believe in Books to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland and that is how they decided on this year’s design.
Anyone who has seen pumpkin carving contests on TV can attest to the wonderful images these professionals can coax out of the skin of a pumpkin with some talent and the right tools.
The farm planted the pumpkin seeds back in July.
Next up is a great and very informative website called pumpkinpatchesandmore.org, this one has an extensive amount of information on different pumpkin patches near you.
Activities include: Jumping pillow, Wiggle Cars, corn box, pedal tractors, rubber duck races, two 80-foot giant slides, hamster roll (a giant tube kids can get inside and roll across a track), 16-foot spider web, free weekend hay rides.
Our pumpkins come from The Navajo Nation near Farmington, N.M. The Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers Inc. has been employing Native Americans on the Reservation for more than 20 years. There is also a deal on Groupon.com for a percentage off of admission to the Sand Mountain Corn Maze. Down on the Farm is located in Rainsville on Heaton Road.
Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.to 6 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.to 6 p.m.

Because so many people come to that event, the farm will be dedicating most of its supply to it. There are hayrides available as well as a new corn maze in addition to the pumpkin patch. There is also kettle corn to eat, a petting zoo with live farm animals, and for $1 extra, you can shoot the corn cannon three times to try to hit targets.
