The new design comes at a cost, however, as some fan favorite features from the old Pottermore site had to go, at least temporarily. “Linfred was a vague and absent-minded fellow whose Muggle neighbours often called upon his medicinal services”.
“The fascinating story of the Potter family, from the author herself, will enthrall everyone interested in this world and shows just how JK Rowling‘s writing remains at the heart of our new site”. Pottermore/Pottermore Welcome screen for the newly revamped Pottermore website expanding J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe.
One note reads: ‘The world of Harry Potter saved me during my darkest hours. You see Linfred had been a skilled potion master who created two potions, (Skele-gro and Pepperup Potion) which are still used in the modern wizarding world.
Fleamont Potter died of dragon pox and his fortune was left to his son, James Potter. In it she details a host of new revelations about the Potter family’s roots, which she dates all the way back to the middle ages.
Years after the seventh book in the Harry Potter series was released, Rowling gave fans the nitty gritty on the background of James Potter’s side of the family. As the oldest heir to Ignotus Peverell (of the “Tale of Three Brothers” fame), Iolanthe inherited the invisibility cloak, which was then passed down to from generation to generation.
Fast forward to the 20th century, where Fleamont Potter, a distant descendant of Linfred of Stinchcombe, “took the family gold and quadrupled it”.

“You’re a wizard, Harry”, Hagrid told Harry Potter about his magical lineage in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the very first installment of J.K. Rowling’s massively popular book series. The updated fansite-which still features original writing from Rowling in addition to new articles by an unnamed “Pottermore correspondent” like “11 times Snape was the hardest teacher to please” and “The 5 Death Eaters you’ll never forget”-has some fans feeling a bit frustrated”.
