‘Fetty Wap’ review: Calling out and catching the moment

Fetty Wap has the misfortune of following up Drake and Future’s Internet breaking mixtape with his debut album. The Patterson native dominated radio and the charts this year, tied Billboard records, and became a force to be reckoned with in the pop world. With his new video, Fetty drifted away from the trap house sound with the softer song “My Way“. Fetty pleads his sexy love interest to take her away from her troubled relationship. He has his own sleek sports auto, which he stands in front of to count a stack of cash.

With “Jugg”, Fetty dips back into his “Trap Queen” bag and speaks to a lady he plans to teach how to “Jugg”, or hustle, with him. His callout “Squad!” referring to his posse The Remy Boyz, has caught on, as have his shouts of “1738!” a reference to the line of Remy Martin Cognac.

Fetty Wap will be available on September 25. “I’m trying to roll with you”, and offers the opportunity to “Jugg”. If you’re sick of “Trap Queen” or still can’t get it out of your head, then this is the ideal follow-up hit. Fetty Wap uses the Atlanta slang to describe his fast-tracked rise to fame in the hip-hop industry, and the success that has come with his new status.
