Bilic rates City win ahead of Arsenal, Liverpool

West Ham United winger Dimitri Payet has admitted that he and his teammates are continuing to grow in confidence following their impressive start to the season. You must be more calm but when you are two goals down, it is hard.

City had been flawless in its first five league matches, but the team has now dropped consecutive contests after losing to Juventus at home midweek in the Champions League.

Nigeria worldwide Victor Moses fired in the first after six minutes and Diafra Sakho stabbed in the second on the half-hour mark.

Questions were asked of City’s defence, which was missing captain Vincent Kompany for the first time this season, and there were further problems as Sakho snatched a second in a goalmouth scramble following a corner.

However, £55 million summer recruit Kevin De Bruyne pulled a goal back for the Citizens on the stroke of half-time, which didn’t prove enough to deprive the Hammers of the three points.

Manchester City turned up the pressure in the second half and put West Ham through the wringer.

“Man City didn’t deserve to lose that game, they didn’t play great but minimum they deserved a point”.

Victory in Manchester was a real team effort and Moses had special praise for the players at the defensive end of the pitch.

“It is a surprise”, Bilic said.

“In the last two games we didn’t play with the concentration or intensity we had shown in the first five games”, said Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager. “City played much better in the second half and it was nearly like The Alamo”.

De Bruyne has no fears it will after City created an array of chances after the break against West Ham as they chased an equaliser. West Ham are now in the virtual Champions League places, so, good for them.

Leicester City turn their attentions to the Capital One Cup on Tuesday as they welcome West Ham to the King Power Stadium in the all-Premier League third-round clash.

Bilic told Sky Sports: “You need a bit more if you want to score two goals here, or two at the Emirates or three at Anfield”. We did that and got a very important win.
