Piggy & Kermit Divorce, Pot Jokes, Nathan Fillion & Elizabeth Banks on New
One of the big bones of contention has been the somewhat grown-up take on the iconic childhood puppets; turns out, not everyone is digging the more adult Muppets. We know what Miss Piggy’s history, but her behavior leaves us wondering how Kermit fell for this pig to start with.

This adaptation of Jim Henson’s 1970s creation is definitely taking a more mature turn, which has been apparent through the teasers for the show alluding to adult content such as sex and relationships. “They all know and love Kermit the Frog”. But hey, that’s the whole point. “ABC wants to put on an all-new, primetime series starring the Muppets!” “The Muppet Show” was about the actual show with sketches and comedy pieces.
In the main story line in the premiere, Miss Piggy refuses to allow the actress Elizabeth Banks to appear on the show.
Kermit the Frog tries as executive producer of Up Late with Miss Piggy, the show-within-a-show on ABC’s The Muppets (Mondays at 8 p.m.). Although the two are now separated and Kermit dating someone else, they still remain somewhat professional.
Meanwhile, Fozzie is flustered about meeting his human girlfriend’s parents.
Piggy also managed to throw some shade at Kimmel himself, since she now has experience hosting her own late-night show, telling him, “I basically do whatever it is you do here, only better and in high heels”. The second is superior because of funnier bits, but both point to where the show might go.
And speaking of confessionals: I’m not one of the Muppet faithful.
As to what happens in the pilot, the network has announced that the series premiere will open with Kermit’s attempt to make Miss Piggy happy. It does feature a lot of guest stars and cameos.
