Right-hander Jimmy Nelson was in good spirits Friday but spent a second night under observation at a Milwaukee hospital after being struck in the head by a line drive Thursday night against St. Louis.

Poor, poor Jimmy! The footage of him getting hit in the head by that lightning-fast line drive is stunning; we can not imagine what kind of pain he must have felt from that jolt to the skull. The Oregon-born pitcher was hit in the back of the head on Thursday night by a forceful hit from Tommy Pham of the St. Louis Cardinals. Nelson was face down on the mound for about a minute before walking off the field.

Manager Craig Counsell said Garza likely would not return to the team this season.
“I think he escaped without any serious harm”, Counsell said after a 6-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Jimmy was ordered to stay overnight in the hospital for 48 hours as a precautionary measure, just to make sure everything was 100% okay before getting the okay to go home. We’ve seen players suffered broken bones and concussions. The fan was able to walk out of the stadium on his own power.
“It’s important that we continue to play the right way”, Counsell said.
Nelson is scheduled to start on the mound on the Brewers’ Tuesday game with the Chicago Cubs, but it’s still unknown whether the pitcher will make an appearance. We need to give him a little bit more time, ‘ he said.

‘I’m not anxious about the mental part of it at all, ‘ Counsell said.
