Leaders say that despite claims by critics that Mohamed was profiled, the Islamic Center of Irving is not critical of the way it was handled.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg extended an invitation to Mohamed to meet him at the social media giant’s California headquarters.

“He didn’t explain properly what it was and they felt compelled to arrest him”, McLellan said.
The White House then invited Ahmed to Astronomy Night in October, an annual event that brings together astronauts, scientists and other professionals.

Ahmed Mohamed appeared at a news conference Wednesday alongside his attorney, a representative for the Muslim community and his family members. Indeed, when other teachers saw the invention, they alerted the police and insisted it was a hoax bomb. “The future belongs to people like Ahmed”, said Zuckerberg in a post on Facebook. After his release, a much relieved Ahmed spoke to the press that had gathered outside his house. Would you consider interning with us?
