Barcelona midfielder Rafinha will reportedly undergo knee surgery on Tuesday afternoon as he begins his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Barcelona have asked permission to register Arda Turan immediately to replace the injured Rafinha, according to multiple reports in Spain.
Turan and Vidal joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively during the close-season, despite the Liga champions being under an embargo relating to them breaking Federation Internationale de Football Association rules for registering players under the age of 18.
Turan is on the books, but can not play for Barca until January 1 due to Barca’s summer market transfer ban.
“It is not about being optimistic about Arda joining the squad but the club is always is looking for our best options”, Luis Enrique said. “We are trying to keep them positive and it isn’t long until January”.
“We hope Federation Internationale de Football Association will announce a decision this week”.
