Roethlisberger named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

While the Steelers are 3-for-3 on two-point conversions, kicker Josh Scobee is 4-for-5 on extra points. Pittsburgh became the first team in 17 years to successfully convert a two-point try in the first quarter.

Roethlisberger, who said after the game that he called “almost every single play” had the Steelers offense looking nearly unstoppable. “I think we are going to see more and more of it as the season goes on”.

Going for two, meanwhile, was always a risky proposition. His last time was Week 9 of last season, when he threw for 340 yards and six touchdowns at home against the Baltimore Ravens.

Historically, the number is at 45 percent. He knows that scoring early in a game and going for two also can put pressure on the opposition.

No longer is that the case. That’s bound to happen at some point during the season.

The point of all this is that the extra point is no longer automatic. “We feel like we’re a team that’s going to do it enough that it’s going to be hard to get a beat on us”.

The conversions are something that Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, whose team plays the Steelers next, is already thinking about.
