Peterson ran 29 times for 134 yards and accounted for 192 total yards as the Vikings won 26-16 over the Detroit Lions at TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday.

The Vikings were ahead all afternoon long in a much-needed victory following last Monday’s debacle of a loss in San Francisco. Peterson carrying the ball in his first appearance in a home game since missing all but one game of the 2014 season. Peterson ran the ball seven times on the first drive, which lasted 11 plays, took up 4:35 of first-quarter clock and ended with a touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph.
-PASS DEFENSE: C – Not being beat over the top was one of the few bright spots for the Lions, but they still allowed an incredibly efficient performance by Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who finished 14-of-18 for 153 yards and a touchdown.
The Detroit Lions nearly got taken out of their game against the Vikings before it even started. The Lions blew a 21-3 lead in San Diego, eventually losing to the Chargers, 33-28, while the Vikings were run off the field by Carlos Hyde in Santa Clara.
NOTES: The Lions were without LB DeAndre Levy, who missed his second game with a hip injury.
And with the offense looking like the same inconsistent unit as last season, the Lions have a lot of work to do if they hope to return to the postseason.
As for the punishment Stafford was subjected to Sunday, Caldwell said there’s plenty of blame to go around. “But I’m doing everything I can possibly do to get healthy”. Matthew Stafford was an erratic 32 of 53 for 286 yards and two touchdowns as the defense did a good job containing Detroit’s short passing attack which proved effective against the Vikings last season.
With Stafford slow to get up, the Lions called a handoff to Abdullah on the next play.

“We’ll see”, coach Jim Caldwell said when asked if Stafford would play this weekend. Current score is 10-17. Detroit has no rushing touchdowns yet in the game.
“Anytime you have a game like this where you fall behind to a really good team and we weren’t successful running the football, you’re going to have to drop back and throw it, which we had to do”, Stafford said.

It was a fairly standard, however illegal, hit, but it’s made headlines because NBC “Sunday Night Football” analyst Rodney Harrison, a two-time All-Pro safety, said he didn’t think the Lions reacted the right way after the hit along the Lions’ sideline.
Jerick McKinnon had three carries for 20 yards in relief of Peterson.

“No, sir. That’s just the way our game is played”. It will be interesting to see if this is a trend or just the way that they matched up with the Lions.
