Investment treaty between China and United States key business goal

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, investor Warren Buffett and Jack Massachusetts of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba were among the 30 executives who attended Xi’s Seattle address on Wednesday.

Xi told the group in a speech that was open to media that China’s economy has “big potential” and leaders will continue to remove barriers to foreign investment.

China last week hailed the return by the United States of one of China’s most prominent fugitives wanted for corruption as good progress and a foundation for cooperation.

“Once concluded, the treaty will further ease market access and put in place more open and transparent market rules”, he said. They can help ensure that the rights of foreign investors are protected and that foreign companies operate on a level playing field with domestic ones.

United States government and business leaders aim to strike a balance between forging agreements and improving relations with the world’s second-largest economy, while sending strong messages about allegations of Chinese cyber spying and intellectual property violations as well as Web censorship and China’s disputed territorial claims to islands in the South China Sea.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has gushed about his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling it a “personal milestone”, after he spoke in Mandarin to Xi at an event on Wednesday. According to the company, China will need an estimated 6,330 new airplanes over the next 20 years, a haul worth $950 billion.

Boeing and China strengthened their longstanding and ever-growing relationship Wednesday with a huge new order and announcement of an expanded presence in China.

On Tuesday, Xi signed a pact with some USA governors committing to work with the US on clean energy development.
