Amazon Prime One Day Sale Celebrating Transparent’s Five Emmy Wins

$67 refers to the 67 PrimeTime Emmy Awards held this year in which Amazon’s original hit show Transparent won five Emmys.

“We don’t have a trans tipping point yet-we have a trans civil rights problem”, Jill Soloway said at the Emmys on Sunday night while accepting the award for best directing for a comedy series. The Prime discount is a one-day affair that starts on Friday, September 25 at 12:00 AM Eastern and ends at 11:59 PM Pacific.

The company is offering the concession to celebrate the success of its original series named “Transparent“.

Soloway thanked Amazon boss Jeff Bezos for giving her “incredible freedom” and urged greater public awareness of the difficulties faced by trans men and women.

Amazon chose to make the special offer as a celebration of its success at the 67th Annual Emmy Awards.

Louis-Dreyfrus scored her fourth consecutive Emmy win, this time for her comical part in “Veep“, while popular character actor Tambor won it for his role in “Transparent“. It won three awards at the Creative Arts Emmys, including one for documentary Virunga for cinematography for nonfiction programming. Rotten Tomatoes gave the show a 98 rating (out of 100) and Metacritic gave the show a 91 rating. Thus, a discounted Prime membership might lead to an increase in Amazon Prime Instant Video subscriptions.

Season two of Transparent will debut on Amazon December 4.
