On the anniversary of a tragic accident, a Missouri woman’s Facebook message has gone viral.

The driver who crossed the center line died at the crash.

“One selfish decision to drink and drive caused me to be a widow and a mom to an angel at the age of 21”, wrote Mantia.

Corey was airlifted to hospital – along with Destiny – but died 24 hours later. “We wouldn’t get to purchase our first house together, we wouldn’t get to take Parker for his first hair cut, his first day at school, and our family would never grow. If I could be the only one to ever have to go through this again, I totally would”. Destiny was injured but managed to survive, though she says every day is a struggle.

Mantia says she shared some very personal thoughts on Facebook, letting everyone who was willing to listen know how much she was suffering. “She ended any dreams that we may have had together and caused pain I never knew existed”, she wrote.

Mantia’s Facebook post included a photo of her family, scenes from the crash and two stark photos showing the grave markers where he son was laid to rest.

Mantia’s story has been picked up by dozens of news outlets, something she hopes will ultimately end drunk driving. “One is too many. We would no longer get to live our future together”, wrote Destiny.

Mantia’s lawyers claim the hall showed negligence by allowing the woman to become intoxicated and then failing to stop her from leaving when she was visibly impaired. The Foristell woman shared her tragedy in hopes it will keep others from drinking and driving. Don’t drive drunk, because the life you save just might be someone’s precious husband and baby.
