Armed police dispatched after reports of ‘man with gun near primary school’
Armed officers were called to the scene of the shooting, which happened as pupils were leaving the nearby St Helens Primary School.

POLICE are hunting a gunman after a man was shot in an attack thought to be linked to former associates of murdered gangland figure Kevin “Gerbil” Carroll.

A woman resident who declined to be named, told the Herald: “I heard three shots quite clearly – and so did my daughter”.
According to Police Scotland, the attacker shot a 33-year-old man on Dornoch Place, Bishopbriggs, at 15:10 on Thursday.
“Officers are working to establish the circumstances of the incident and I am particularly keen to appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident or who had been in the area around that time to contact the police on 101 with any information”.
Police said a major incident room had been set up at Kirkintilloch Police Office and extra patrols were being made to reassure the public.

Armed response teams were sent to the incident in Dornoch Place, Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, at about 3.10pm today.
