Speaking at the launch of his latest book, Leading, earlier this week, Ferguson said that Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo were the only world-class players that he managed in his 26 years at the club.

Fans wondered and scratched their heads and questioned why other gifted players such as David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Peter Schmeichel did not make the list.
Beckham, who became a household name because of his trademark curling free-kicks and pinpoint crosses from the right wing, spent a glittering 12 years at United where he made 394 apperances, scoring 85 goals.
When asked if he was insulted, he told BBC Sport: “Not at all”.
Expressing his views after being left out of Ferguson’s list, Beckham said that he didn’t mind not being included in the list, and insisted that he was happy to play for one of the greatest managers of all time, the Mirror reported.
However, instead of being offended, Beckham has agreed with Fergie and claims he felt privileged to have played alongside some of the truly great players.

While Ferguson hailed the four of his former stars, he kept special praise for Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo, describing him as ‘like the ornament on top of a Christmas tree’.

In the recent interview, Beckham was asked whether if he thought he was better than Ronaldo, replying: “No”.
