At least two people were injured in an explosion and fire Wednesday night in Columbia, Maryland. The extent of the worker’s injuries were not provided, and it isn’t clear if the worker was there at the time of the explosion.

A Baltimore Gas and Electric worker was investigating a possible natural gas leak reported by a resident when the explosion occcurred.

“When they lifted the garage door, they smelled – they heard like a sizzling”, said Andrea Gershman.

‘After two minutes, he said to us, ‘Get everybody out of that house, ‘ said Mr Gersman, before the neighboring house exploded minutes later.

“The explosion was so loud…I fell on the ground”, Gershman said. Fire officials at the site took longer than expected to arrive, declining to answer phone calls about the inferno. “It was a two-floor explosion”.

Three town homes have been damaged.
