Colin Kaepernick: 49ers have stripped back playbook for Kaep

He will be the starter if Bush is healthy or not, but the veteran could be favored working as a passing-down back for quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Last year, he threw 10 – one every 47.8 attempts.

With that, fans should have confidence in the ability of the 49ers’ offense to perform well this season.

As it turns out, however, the CEO was speaking candidly when he detailed how the new offensive staff planned to use quarterback Colin Kaepernick in 2015.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said he noticed a different Kaepernick as well, though coaches were known to say nice things about their opponents in advance of the game.

And his connection with Smith on his 75-yard catch-and-run touchdown late in the third quarter was breathtaking. Colin succeeded during his Super Bowl campaign because they let him do his thing, but too many unfavorable changes happened since then. “From our end, we’re trying to make sure we don’t do that”. “And put Kap in a position where we can run the ball”.

“We have more time to show what he can do, and he can get us into the right play”, guard Alex Boone said.

The 49ers have enough going against them this year.

Kaepernick has completed 69 percent of his passes for 500 yards through two games, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

On Wednesday, his words had the faint echo of what York said in January.

“I would say the biggest thing is I’m being asked to be myself this year”, Kaepernick said via ESPN.com. “And I don’t think anybody knows how to be myself better than me”. “It’s a situation where I’m not being asked to do things out of my capabilities”. Did he mean he was getting more chances to roll out of the pocket?

Chryst, the quarterbacks coach the previous four seasons, was forthcoming Thursday when discussing the offseason alterations to the offense.

Kaepernick has never criticized the former regime – he has remained an ally with Jim Harbaugh – but he definitely has embraced new coach Jim Tomsula’s up-tempo offense as the 49ers (1-1) prepare for their first NFC West game Sunday at the Arizona Cardinals (2-0). “You have to learn and improve and move forward and so we’ll do that”, Chryst said. What we re asking him to do compared what he s been asked to do in other years.

Kaepernick’s other most notable trait is his ridiculous arm strength, but it goes hand in hand with squeezing the ball into tight windows. The streamlined offense has allowed Kaepernick time at the line of scrimmage to adjust plays and try drawing defense’s offside, teammates confirmed. Do defensive coordinators want to account for an on-the-loose Kaepernick, whose six career playoff starts have produced three of the top five rushing performances by a quarterback in postseason history? Though it should be emphasized that many of his numbers came in the second half of Sunday’s loss in Pittsburgh, when the game already was lost and in rout mode, his 98.1 rating is better than that of Drew Brees, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson.
