Steven Gerrard has pointed the finger at Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers for his “over-confidence” ahead of the Anfield clash with Chelsea, which scuppered the Reds’ 2013-14 Premier League title tilt.

“Before the meeting you had Luis Suarez training on his own in the afternoon”.
As a result of this wobble, manager Brendan Rodgers finds himself under increased pressure at the club, and Nicholas has questioned their lack of a set approach – such as the one they had two years ago when they went agonisingly close to taking the title.
“Brendan’s relationship with Luis had broken down”.
“He’s certainly a top coach, a good person and someone who works very hard to make sure his teams are hard to beat, so I’ve got a lot of respect for him“. “When you lose someone like Luis Suarez it makes you an terrible lot weaker, so for me, I was prepared to do anything it took to try and make that not happen”, the LA Galaxy midfielder explained. He also feared the force Arsenal could become with Suarez up front.
“They wanted me to kick up a war to get out of Liverpool for a certain amount of money, which I wasn’t prepared to do“, the 35-year-old said.
Mourinho wanted Gerrard at Real Madrid.
Gerrard also disclosed that Mourinho sent him a message via John Terry after he ended his 28-year long affair with Liverpool last season.
But Gerrard conceded his desire to change Suarez’s mind wasn’t purely for the benefit of the striker and his family.
Gerrard was speaking on the upcoming BT Sport special -‘Sport in Focus – Steven Gerrard’ – where the former Liverpool captain discusses numerous topics in his new book ‘My Story’.
And Gerrard, who know plies his trade in the MLS with LA Galaxy, has revealed he stopped Suarez from moving to the Emirates because deep down he knew his former team-mate wanted to join Barca.

Gerrard is now on an 18-month contract with the LA club and will likely assess his options come the end of that contract.
