Twitch will soon allow direct video uploads, just like YouTube

Also included were announcements related to industry partners, like PlayStation’s dedicated Twitch viewing app for all its platforms, Gameshow’s cutting edge broadcasting software, and a reveal of new content for StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void.

We have been saying a lot recently that the streaming war is going to heat up and today during Twitch’s keynote speech during the first TwitchCon event, the company announced that direct uploads and a true VOD feature will be arriving soon. If you chose to play something but didn’t feel like having the Eyes Of The World looking over your shoulder, Twitch will still host your video. Coming in early 2016. It won’t change much for broadcasters, as the PS4 launched with Twitch functionality built in allowing players to stream with the touch of a button. To ensure that users don’t miss private messages the whispers chat box shows up on all pages of the site, and on the mobile app.

The video upload feature is perhaps the biggest news for Twitch content creators, as they will be able to make videos without offering a livestream first and then upload them to the service, which is something YouTube creators have had since its service started. PS4, PS3 and even Vita users will be able to download the app and watch their favorite streamers, as well as popular gaming tournaments from the ease of their reclining chairs rather than in front of their computer desks. No word on when GameShow will be made available.
