Netflix has ordered a third season of the critically acclaimed anthology series Black Mirror.

For the uninitiated, “Black Mirror” takes a dark look at our obsession with technology with suspenseful, thought-provoking episodes about our technological future.

Charlie Brooker’s ingenious, audacious and thought-provoking sci-fi satire series Black Mirror is to get a brand new run of twelve original episodes – on Netflix. He ominously added, “I just hope none of these new story ideas come true”, suggesting, of course, that there’s no change or dilution to his vision’s wonderful twistedness.

Throughout its first seven episodes, Black Mirror has featured some very big-name actors, with Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell, Penny Dreadful’s Rory Kinear, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Domhnall Gleason having all appeared in episodes.

Deeply unsettling tech dystopian drama Black Mirror, like the BBC and the NHS before it, has become one of the things that makes the United Kingdom the envy of other nations.

Creator Charlie Brooker will remain at the head of the show, along with fellow producer Annabel Jones.

Like all “Originals”, Black Mirror will debut in all Netflix-supporting countries, but in an odd twist, plans for a United Kingdom launch have yet to be decided. Production on the new season is scheduled to begin “in late 2015” in the United Kingdom. The 12 new shows will be available on all Netflix regions except the United Kingdom and Ireland, which presumably implies they’ll still premiere on televison there. You can see the first six episodes on Netflix now; one of them is particularly resonant this month. Once the show went to Netflix, it became another terrific show to binge watch.
