Urban Meyer sticks with Cardale Jones as Ohio State’s starting QB
Cardale Jones will remain Ohio State’s starting quarterback after Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer confirmed Wednesday the junior will retain top billing in the offense, per Ben Axelrod of Bleacher Report.

Ohio State is fourth nationally in pass defense after giving up fewer than 100 yards in the air in its last two games against Northern Illinois and Hawaii. It remains to be seen whether J.T Barrett will continue to see a healthy chunks of the snaps on a weekly basis, however. “That has to be the best coached position on your team”.
Following last week’s narrow win over Northern Illinois, Meyer said he didn’t know who his starting quarterback was, and that he would “spend a lot of time thinking about” naming a permanent starter.
“It’s not like it’s a demotion or something like that”, Meyer said of Warinner.
Meyer said the shift could help as the pace increases. “If someone replaces you, they’ve got to beat you out”.
“We’re going to adapt and change some things”, Meyer said.
When Ohio State’s coaches graded the films of the Northern Illinois game, 10 of the 11 defensive starters met or exceeded the level required to be labeled a champion for the game. He was named the Big Ten offensive player of the year and finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Ohio State is double teaming the block and opening holes, but in the 3-4 a linebacker often shoots through the gaps on a blitz to disrupt the play.
With all of that said, the Ohio State offense has two major issues largely independent of the quarterback.
“You prepare for one defense, they come out in another one“, he said. “We’re anxious. I wish we could play tomorrow”. “If you look historically, what Ohio State offense is for us, it’s control the line of scrimmage, the best perimeter blocking in America and a very good, solid play-action passing attack”.
Ezekiel Elliott and Curtis Samuel lost fumbles. Five times it allowed more than 300 yards passing in a game.
